- Wt Copeland (spode Works) Scroll Handled Tray, Pattern Sp608 In Red

Here's a beautiful scroll handled tray from WT COPELAND (at the SPODE WORKS) in a rarely seen pattern, sometimes referred to as SP608. Illustrated on-line pieces of this pattern are not common and are generally in blue, whereas, this tray is in red. The piece is marked as illustrated is very fuzzy, but SPODE at top, large C in a square, and COPELAND at the base. This is a COPELAND mark I'd not seen before but used between 1875 and 1890. The border design is a floral with tiny rosette-like background, but more distinctively a separation of the pattern into segments through the use of a bold colored, long, straight lines (stem) of an upright floral.

The center design is a floral landscape centered on a tree CAMILLIA? The tray is 11 x 6. The piece has gold trim on the rim and on the scroll handle. There is a small chip and tight 3/16 line on one of the scalloped edges, visible on both sides of the tray (last 2 photos).
